iChart terminal connections will timeout when no input has been given for 15 seconds. This feature is designed to conserve power if the terminal is left open.
Additionally, iSIC data loggers open terminals to YSI sondes using serial RS-232 communication. If the log interval on the sonde is set up so that a reading is taken while the terminal is open, then an SDI-12 command sent from the iSIC to the sonde forces the sonde to abandon RS-232 communication and disconnect from the terminal port.
In either case, simply close the terminal and then reestablish a connection. The menu displayed prior to the interruption will be displayed.
