The University of Akron Field Station is located on the 411-acre Bath Nature Preserve in northeastern Ohio. It promotes a better understanding of our relationship with the natural environment through research, education, and service.Students, faculty, and Bath community members have been working for some time to gather long-term, baseline data on water quality, biological diversity, and climate of the preserve. Project administrators have chosen to use the NexSens WQData web datacenter as a solution to help manage this long-term data.In addition, Dr. Jessica Hopkins from the University of Akron has spearheaded a project to set up four real-time water quality and stream flow monitoring sites within the nature preserve. WQData allows researchers to compare this real-time data with historical data on a single, web-based user interface. This valuable information will improve monitoring capacities within the Cuyahoga Valley watershed and provide a better understanding of the overall environment.

TREC is open year-round, offering visitors insight to what they can expect at Presque Isle State Park and the surrounding Great Lakes Region. TREC also serves as a center for research, contributing to conservation efforts, promoting environmental awareness, and helping to preserve the unparalleled beauty of Presque Isle.The Regional Science Consortium is one of the many educational and research organizations establishing itself at the center. The collaborative, non-profit consortium coordinates educational and research projects for Lake Erie and the upper Ohio River Basin.The consortium's objective is to have all branches of science working in collaboration to exchange expertise, equipment, and ideas while sharing researchers and students as well. One of the consortium's most recent research tools is a multi-parameter weather network that utilizes NexSens data loggers.

Corals around the world are under threat. The buoys of the Coral Reef Early Warning System (CREWS) help face that threat, providing the entire world with weather patterns and data about climate change from their home in the Caribbean Sea.Since June 2018, a new, state-of-the-art oceanographic buoy has added ocean state and weather data in near real-time to the CREWS system—all accessible from a computer or smartphone. A better understanding of more threatened regions Installed by the Central Caribbean Marine Institute (CCMI), which runs the CREWS system, the CCMI team helped describe the challenges the CREWS system needs to tackle.
