Thermal Discharge Monitoring
Industrial facilities receive permits to discharge large volumes of unnaturally hot water from cooling systems into nearby bodies of water. NexSens data logging and communications systems can help facilities monitor the effects of thermal discharge in real time to ensure permit compliance.
Inland Lakes Buoy
The MB-300 data buoy is designed for long-term temperature profiling applications. Three five-watt, solar-charged battery packs provide continuous power, extending deployments and minimizing site visits.
Small Open-Water Buoy
The MB-100 data buoy provides a less conspicuous floating platform with alkaline battery power. The platform is ideal for short-term or portable temperature profiling applications.
Data Collection
The NexSens SDL submersible data logger includes five sensor ports to accommodate connection to temperature strings and various other water quality sensors.
Wireless Communication
Radio-to-shore, cellular, or Iridium satellite telemetry options deliver real-time data to your computer or mobile device. Communications are integrated into the ruggedized housing of the submersible data logger.
Temperature String
NexSens T-Node temperature sensors can be connected in-series and suspended vertically from a data buoy to create a highly accurate, multi-point temperature string.
T-Node Sensor Connections
T-Node temperature sensors are connectorized and plug directly into sealed underwater cables, which separate the sensors at metric spacing intervals. Custom cable lengths are available.
System Expansion
Fluorometers, multi-parameter sondes, weather sensors, depth sonar, and many other sensors are easily added to the system.
Software and Data Management
Using iChart Live software and the optional WQData Live Web datacenter, project members can quickly access real-time temperature profiling data and make informed operational decisions as needed.
Alarm Notification
Automated alarm notifications can alert project personnel when parameters exceed a set threshold. Systems can send alerts via SMS text message or e-mail.
Startup Support
Application engineers are available for training and technical support, both by phone and in person. Our extensive field experience helps ensure seamless implementation of the monitoring project.
