FERC Dissolved Oxygen Monitoring
Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) hydroelectric operation licenses often require pre- and post-construction dissolved oxygen monitoring. NexSens data collection and telemetry systems simplify this process.
Real-Time DO System
Real-time dissolved oxygen monitoring systems consist of a dissolved oxygen sensor, data logger, communications module, and power supply conveniently packaged onto a mast-mounted or buoy platform.
Data Collection
NexSens data loggers support a wide variety of analog and digital inputs. Dissolved oxygen readings are sampled and logged with a time and date stamp.
Wireless Communication
Radio, cellular, Ethernet, Wi-Fi, or Iridium satellite telemetry options deliver real-time data from local and remote locations to your computer or mobile device.
Sensor Selection
The system supports polarographic, galvanic, and optical DO sensor connections. For on-site display and calibration, a transmitter with an LCD screen is available.
Open-Water Measurements
Upstream and downstream dissolved oxygen measurements can be made from shore, a lock wall, or on a data buoy with wireless communication.
System Expansion
Fluorometers, multi-parameter sondes, temperature strings, weather sensors, depth sonar, and many other sensors are easily added to the system.
Software and Data Management
Using iChart Live and the optional WQData Live Web datacenter, project members can quickly access real-time dissolved oxygen data and make informed operational decisions as needed.
Alarm Notification
Automated alarm notifications can alert project personnel when parameters exceed a set threshold. Systems can send alerts via SMS text message or e-mail.
Startup Support
Application engineers are available for training and technical support, both by phone and in person. Our extensive field experience helps ensure seamless implementation of the monitoring project.
