NexSens Technology offers Real-Time Crude Oil Monitoring Systems using the Turner Designs Cyclops-7 crude oil sensor.

As oil continues to gush in the Gulf of Mexico, many organizations are scrambling to measure the effects of the spill. NexSens Data Loggers may be configured with the Cyclops-7 and set to transmit wirelessly over cellular networks, or via Iridium satellite, so users may view their data in real-time.

The Cyclops-7 is a submersible fluorometer designed for integration into remote data collection and telemetry platforms. This sensor is configured and factory-scaled for the specific analysis of crude oil. The rugged stainless steel construction is designed to withstand most environmental conditions and built-in turbidity rejection ensures accurate measurements in unsettled waters.

At the heart of the Crude Oil Monitoring System is the NexSens SDL500C Submersible Data Logger with cellular modem telemetry. The system includes four additional ports for connection to industry-standard environmental sensors, and the internal modem can be configured for any of the major cellular networks. If cellular coverage is not available at the monitoring site, an Iridium satellite modem may be used.

This system can be combined with the NexSens MB-300 data buoy for a completely autonomous crude oil monitoring station. Power is supplied by eight D-cell alkaline batteries or optional SP5 solar power packs. Terrestrial mast-mounted systems are also available.
